New Call Sign - W4LUX
My new call sign got activated today! All old posts will still indicate when I was still KN4AAO.
Moving forward all will be redirected and altered to W4LUX!
So, a little background about my choice for my call sign. I have, for many decades at this point, held quite a fondness for the word "light". Whether it was reading John 1 in Scripture, writing music and songs, or just lending a helping hand to others, "light" seemed to always be the path I chose to pursue.
There is so much darkness in this world. Even within our own minds and hearts. Leading others from that darkness and into the light has always been sort of my life's aim. So, back to "Lux". For probably over 30 years I have been studying Biblical texts and various ancient manuscripts in other languages. I would say that this influence is the main reasoning behind my choice in a new title that I would identify with and represent what I stood for in my personal life. Also, it just has a great sound when sending it over CW (Morse). Here are several of my favorite mentions of the word "light" coming from the Greek as well as the Latin.
John 1:5 (in the Greek)
καὶ τὸ φῶς ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ φαίνει, καὶ ἡ σκοτία αὐτὸ οὐ κατέλαβεν.
"And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Matthew 5:16 (in the Latin)
Sic luceat lux vestra coram hominibus: ut videant
opera vestra bona, et glorificent patrem vestrum, qui in cælis est.
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see
your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Sic luceat lux
Thus, let the light shine.
And, shine...it shall. All glory be to God for this life He has blessed me with. Amen.
